These figures represent some of the work that CFC charities are doing in our community and around the world.  Take the time to find your cause!

$1 a paycheck…

  • Ensures a child is immunized for school.
  • Enables a diabetic kidney patient to purchase a 2-3 month supply of syringes.
  • Supplies materials for two classrooms of the “Hear for a Lifetime” program, which includes printed material, video and earplugs to educators, audiologists, parents, and other volunteers at no charge.
  • Purchases a wig for a young girl with cancer who is going through chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
  • Buys a gas card for a person at a domestic violence shelter.
  • Buys a one-month IT pass for a person at a domestic violence shelter.
  • Buys a bus ticket to Portland, in order to flee domestic abuse.
  • Provides enough food for three families facing hunger for 3-5 days.
  • Provides financial training to a low-income person working to purchase his first home.

$3 a paycheck…

  • Provides training software for students in a Computer Technology Program at a charity which helps young men and women become self-sufficient, contributing members of the workforce and their community.
  • Funds part of a student’s summer research fellowship at the University of Minnesota lupus laboratory.
  • Buys a dozen library books for an elementary school.
  • Provides five children with vision exams.
  • Buys all the ingredients for 400 meals on Pasta Day for people experiencing homelessness.
  • Provides blankets, sleepers and cuddly toys for babies born to addicted mothers.
  • Allows a parent to join a parenting class for 6 weeks.
  • Buys one surgery fixture lightbulb at an emergency animal hospital.
  • Buys books for a year for a classroom of daycare children whose parents care for veterans.

$5 a paycheck…

  • Gives 15 nights of shelter and safety for a victim of domestic violence.
  • Provides four community college tests for students, needed for placement in college classes.
  • Provides a patient a chest x-ray.
  • Helps distribute a Wizdom kit to a newly diagnosed child with diabetes.
  • Provides 5 platelet counts for a child with hemophilia.
  • Buys all the books, supplies and materials to create reading kits for one grade level. Reading kits enable parents to assist their struggling reader at home.
  • Provides two hours of housekeeping services per month to a senior or disabled adult so they can stay in their home longer.
  • Provides drug monthly drug testing for one client in a program to help youth experience healing and develop the motivation, responsibility, stable values and skills to make successful choices in life.
  • Provides six sports physicals for teens.
  • Provides dental care for four children.
  • Provides financial assistance to an MS patient in order to purchase necessary aids for daily living, such as dressing and writing aids or adaptive eating utensils.
  • Funds the X-ray of five hawks and owls with fractured wings.
  • Supports scholarships to four students to attend an annual energy conference.
  • Trains 4 recreational kayakers and divers to identify, record, and report incidents of pollution in the Puget Sound.
  • Buys five water quality test kits for students to take on field trips to learn about the ecology of Puget Sound.
  • Buys 30 native plants for fifth graders restoring their neighborhood forest.
  • Buys 25 people facing homelessness a hot nutritious meal, U.S. mail service, phone messaging service and hygiene kit service.
  • Supplies environmental education materials for an entire classroom.
  • Gives 1 1/2 hours of play therapy to help a child act out his/her fears through play.
  • Provides an art therapy session to help a group of teen girls non-verbally express their pain.
  • Buys an alcohol and drug assessment for a teenager.
  • Buys a month of art supplies for a classroom of severely abused and neglected preschoolers.
  • Provides a basic eye exam and a pair of glasses to someone, transforming their lives, allowing them to work again, navigate streets or simply read a favorite book.
  • Gives counseling to an older gentleman who cannot seem to overcome the grief he feels at the loss of his wife.
  • Provides a one hour therapy session for an abused child.
  • Allows 45 children to have an after school program for one week including homework clubs, fieldtrips, mentoring, crafts and games
  • Provides one month of educational materials for pregnant women. 

$10 a paycheck…

  • Allows a child to attend residential summer camp focused on community service and character-building for one week.
  • Provides diabetes risk tests to 500 individuals.
  • Buys one manual wheelchair for a person with a neuromuscular disease.
  • Provides 12 group counseling session for adolescents with sex offending behaviors.
  • Provides a two-hour education session that helps caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s disease. 
  • Gives 5 hours of intensive residential treatment for a troubled teen.
  • Buys helpful books for our parents' lending library to bolster the skills of foster and low-income parents who face overwhelming odds in dealing with these children.

$15 a paycheck…

  • Provides a child with asthma a scholarship to attend Champ Camp.
  • Helps keep a family on its feet so they don’t have to choose between heating, medicine, or food. 
  • Feeds 25 homeless youth for a month.
  • Teaches a parent in crisis (at risk of abusing or neglecting their child) the necessary skills for healthier interactions.
  • Will screen a child and enroll them in the Oregon Health Plan, assuring that they will continue to receive health care.
  • Pays for the childcare for up to 12 children for six two hours anti-poverty classes. Anti-poverty classes include parenting, budgeting, resume building, ESL and interviewing skills. 

$20 a paycheck…

  • Provides a year of scouting or recreation for six kids.
  • Buys 300 pounds of rice, beans, or pasta through a hunger relief charity.
  • Provides roundtrip airfare for a patient or kidney donor to travel for an out-of-area kidney transplant.
  • Funds four sessions of family therapy for children and parents working through treatment together to create a stable and supportive home environment.
  • Pays for one 13-day client stay at a domestic violence shelter (avg. length of stay).
  • Provides a year of monthly home visits by a parent educator for a family with a drug-affected infant.
  • Gives 12 weeks of group counseling for pre-teen girls healing from sexual abuse.
  • Provides an isolated older person with day treatment services in the community that promotes continued independence.
  • Coordinates community services to help 25 troubled children build self-esteem, get medical care, or learn specific skills.
  • Allows one family to overcome homelessness and find a home through a housing placement program where a family works with a case manager to determine a household budget, locate an affordable apartment, and negotiate with the landlord.
  • Provides one week of transitional safe housing for a family escaping domestic violence.

$25 a paycheck…

  • Provides one day of chemotherapy to a young adult with leukemia.
  • Pays for one day of oxygen therapy.
  • Buys a projector that enables the entire class to see the work of fellow students to better understand multiple methods of problem solving.
  • Buys a year of Internet services for adults with major mental illnesses at a charity with the goal of offering an improved quality of life and the highest possible level of independence in the community.
  • Sends a Diabetes Advocate to Washington for three days.
  • Purchases 25 timber puncheons for trail construction.
  • Provides two months of staffing and response for a Toll-Free Pollution Hotline and helps answer citizens concerns about illegal dumping in our waterways.
  • Buys 2,000 plugs of Lyngby's Sedge for salt marsh restoration--one of the most productive northwest plants that also provides crucial habitat for Chinook salmon.
  • Provides laboratory blood panel tests for 15 wildlife patients.
  • Provide funding for transportation for 10 youth heading out on a 3 week trail-maintenance and backpacking course, helping at-risk youth get out into National Forest areas for the first time. 
  • Provides two hours of emergency childcare for a child at risk of abuse or neglect.

$40 a paycheck…

  • Pays for a CT scan for a woman with cancer.
  • Funds nearly a month of care delivered by a trained foster parent to a child– treatment designed to keep kids in their communities, rather than in facility-based care.
  • Helps one school teach children to manage their asthma by supporting Open Airways for Schools.
  • Provides 2 weeks in a safe and nurturing foster home for an abused child.
  • Gives a week of intensive drug and alcohol treatment for a troubled teen.
  • Funds the transplant of a cornea: restoring a person’s vision and life.
  • Provides new furniture for a meeting space at a charity devoted to serving children and their families.
  • Gives one week of safe Emergency shelter for a family escaping domestic violence.
  • Supports one autistic child for 12 (1.5 hour) sessions of drama therapy to learn social skills that can teach them to better understand the world around them.

$50 a paycheck…

  • Provide an environmental educator to 120 students for a week.
  • Pays for toys and activities for a classroom of developmentally delayed, abused/neglected children.
  • Sponsors six months of regular group therapy for an addicted mother to battle her addictions, address deep-seated issues and work out a plan for her family’s future.

$100 a paycheck…

  • Covers the cost of a month’s worth of health examinations for children removed from abusive or unsafe homes.
  • Buys up to four weeks of services for four children during a stay at an emergency shelter. Services include safety planning, parenting training, individual support for mothers and their children, educational/therapeutic group sessions.
